Programs: Canva, Photoshop, Instagram

As Co-Outreach and Marketing Coordinator at the University of California–Davis Women’s Resource and Research Center (WRRC), I was responsible for advertising for our programs and events on social media and around the campus. In my 8 months there, I designed over 30 flyers and social media posts.
As well as designing for the Instagram,
I formatted graphics for the on-site TV screen (above).
To the left are some social media graphics I made to advertise Davis Women's Center programs.
When making a design for a program, I always have an initial meeting with the program coordinators and we talk about the visions and themes they have in mind.
I take this information and the feminist, gender equity mindset of the Women’s Center and sketch potential designs and variations. I show the sketches to the program coordinators and my supervisor for some feedback, then we move forward with the chosen design.
I use Canva to create all of the digital designs and this allows them to match in style. I bring in my design knowledge on typography, color, layout, and visual hierarchy to bring together the final design. I then get final approval and it gets posted to our Instagram. I make sure to follow accessibility guidelines and write image descriptions for the visually-disabled as well as a caption to go along with the image.
